WBJEE 2024 (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations)

WBJEE Exam: WBJEE stands for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations is an entrance examination conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. This exam acts as a gateway for the candidates who are seeking admissions into B.Tech and B.Pharma programs in various universities, colleges, and self-financing engineering institutions. This board was established in the year 1962 by the government of West Bengal with the purpose to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination for the admission of candidates in various institutions in West Bengal. Thus impacting many educational fields such as Engineering, Medical, and other technological fields.

WBJEE 2024

The WBJEE Board has been awarded the status of the permitted body with the name “The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Act, 2014” The key responsibility of the WBJEE is to conduct the common, competitive, and combined exam for the admission of students in various undergraduate and vocational courses in the universities and colleges of West Bengal.

WBJEE Key Highlights 2024

  • The WBJEE 2024 Exam has been conducted on 2nd February 2024 in offline mode. The exam was conducted in two sets of papers. Paper I (Mathematics) was held at 11:00 - 1:00 PM and Paper-II was held from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
  • The WBJEE Admit Card 2024 will be released on 24 January 2024.
  • Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and National Lockdown. The WBJEE Exam 2024 Result has been delayed which was expected to be released in the last week of May 2024.
  • Candidates can check their results on the official website by logging in with their Registration Number and Password.
  • Candidates who successfully crack both Paper-I and Paper-II will be eligible for Engineering and Pharmacy programs (candidates seeking admission in pharmacy programs have to appear in the Biology part instead of Mathematics).

WBJEE 2024 Exam: Eligibility Criteria

WBJEE prescribed the eligibility criteria for the applicants. Candidates are required to go through the prescribed eligibility criteria to ensure that they can successfully apply for the Joint Entrance Examination. Candidates who fail to meet the eligibility criteria will not be able to register and their WBJEE Registration Form will be rejected. 

Only the candidates who have registered successfully and have satisfied the eligibility criteria will be able to appear in the WBJEE Examination. The eligibility criteria might vary for different courses. Below we have mentioned the eligibility criteria for the candidates appearing in the examination:

Age:

  • To appear in the entrance examination, the candidate must be at least 17 years old as of 31st December 2024 and there is no upper age limit.
  • For marine engineering courses, the lower age limit is the same as 17 years old and the upper age limit is 25 years as of 31st December 2019 for the year 2024.

Nationality:

The candidate should be a citizen of India or belong to Indian origin.

WBJEE Exam 2024 B.Tech Educational Requirements:

Candidate must have passed intermediate (10+2) with Mathematics and Physics along with one of the following subjects listed below:

  • Chemistry
  • Biotechnology
  • Biology
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Application
  • Vocational Subject
  1. Candidates must have completed the intermediate exam or equivalent with a minimum of 45% passing marks. (in both theory and practical).
  2. For the reserved category candidates (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) the passing marks are 40$ in all the 3 subjects mentioned above.
  3. Candidates should have passed the English subject with a minimum of 35% marks.
  4. The qualifying examination must be recognized by the central government of India.
  5. The qualifying examination board must be recognized by the central government or state government of India.

WBJEE B.Tech Educational Requirements:

  • Candidates must have passed intermediate (10+2) with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as a compulsory subjects with a subject from Biology/Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application.
  • Candidates must have completed the intermediate exam or equivalent with a minimum of 50% passing marks. (in both theory and practical).
  • For the reserved category candidates (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) the passing marks are 40% in all the 3 subjects mentioned above.
  • Candidates should have passed either NTA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture.
  • The qualifying examination board must be recognized by the central government or state government of India.

WBJEE B.Pharm Educational Requirements:

  • Candidates should have passed intermediate exams from a board recognized by the government of India.
  • Candidates should have passed the intermediate exam with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Biotechnology/Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
  • The average marks in all these 3 subjects must be 45% (for SC/ST/OBC /PwD 40%).
  • Candidates should have passed the English subject of Class 12 with at least 30% marks.

WBJEE Counselling 2024:

The WBJEE 2024 Exam Counselling will start in the 4th week of June 2024. will conduct online where candidates who are qualified and successfully registered for the WBJEE 2024 Counselling Millipore filter paper choices for their courses and colleges. candidates I will have to fill in their preferences and pay the required counseling fee. In the counseling process, the allotment of seats is going to be done based on the rank scored by the candidate in WBJEE 2024 Exam or JEE Main for B. Tech and NATA and B.Arch for B.Pharma.After the online counseling process has been completed the candidates will have to physically report inter reporting centers.

WBJEE Exam Counselling Important Points:

  • Online registration is allowed only for the first round of counseling.
  • There will be no fresh registration after the first counseling round has been completed.
  • The things in the first round will be located to the candidates based on rank, preferred choices, and the availability of seats.
  • The final proceeds will be located based on the vacant seats of the previous rounds.
  • After the completion of the counseling and admission procedure, no duplicate rank card is generated.

WBJEE 2024 Counselling Procedure

The WBJEE Exam 2024 Counselling Involves Computer-Based choice filling and the allotment of seats. Whenever the seat allotment Foundation is completed the candidates are required to report for the document verification and submit the tuition fee. The whole counseling process can be divided into four steps for a candidate to gain admission into the preferred course and institute. After all the states have been completed the candidate will have to report to the center for document verification.

Below Mentioned These Four Steps in Detail:

Step 01: Registration for WBJEE Counselling

  • Visit the official website of WBJEE and click on “New Candidate Registration”.
  • Enter the required details such as WBJEE or JEE Main Roll Number and Password, Candidate Name, Date Of Birth, and a password.
  • After successful registration, the Registration ID and password will be rejected.
  • Note the login credentials for future use.

Step 02: WBJEE Counselling Fee Payment

  • Make a payment of Rs 500 as a counseling fee.
  • Candidates who have successfully paid this fee will be allowed to participate in the further counseling rounds.

Step 03: Filling & Locking Of Choices

  • Login to the account using your ID and Password that you have generated in the previous step.
  • Fill in the preferences for college and courses.
  • The option to edit and submit the choices will expire on the given due date and the choices filled previously will be automatically locked.
  • Students are advised that they must fill their choice carefully.

Step 04: Seat Allotment

Based on the ranks and preference the candidates will be allotted seats. This process will be held online and the students will be required to check the seats by logging into their accounts.

Step 05: Reporting and Document Verification

  • The candidates who have allotted seats will have to be physically present in the reporting center.
  • Carry all the necessary documents that are required in the center.
  • At this stage, the initial admission must be paid.
