How to Prepare for SSC MTS Exam? - Check Tips & Tricks

SSC MTS is computer-based examinations that include paper-Is Computer-Based and Paper-II-a which is a descriptive paper, this will surely help you all in preparing for the examinations in a systematic manner. As per the notification which is latest released by Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the online application process for SSC Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) recruitment has been commenced from 22nd April and will last till 29th May. Competition is getting tougher with time as there are lacs of candidates applying for this examination. Here the time has arrived for the students to start their preparations for the SSC MTS Paper - I Exam which has scheduled to be conducted online from August to September.

Date of Computer Based Exam (Paper-I)	2nd August to 6th September
Date of Paper-II Exam (Descriptive Paper)	17th November

NOTE: SSC MTS Exam will consist of a Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) and a Descriptive Paper (Paper-II).

Pattern & Topics for SSC MTS Preparation

Paper 1:

1. Paper 1 will be of objective type.
2.  The paper would be divided into all four parts in paper-I which are having 100 questions of 100 marks.
3. The total time duration for paper-1 is 1.5 hours and 2 hours for those who are handicapped visually and by hand also.
4. Be careful and attentive as there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
5. 5. Questions will be set of both in English and Hindi for part-A, B, D. 

Paper 2:

1. Paper 2 will be descriptive in which the candidate will be required to write a short essay/letter in English or in any language which is included in the 8th schedule of the constitution.
2. 50 marks are there for paper 2.
3. The total duration of paper-2 is of 30 minutes as well as 45 minutes for those who are visually handicapped candidates.
4. The paper-II will be of qualifying nature.
5. Only those candidates who have to meet the cut-off paper-I only they will be able to appear for the paper-II.

Latest Exam Syllabus for SSC MTS Exam:

Paper-1 consists of ‘General Intelligence and Reasoning’ must be non-verbal considering the functions which may be attached to the posts. The questions on Numerical Aptitude and General English will be so simple, of a kind of such level that an on average achiever could easily be able to answer these questions. General Awareness questions will also be of a similar standard.

General Intelligence:

Those questions which are included are based on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series. It will include questions of non-verbal type. The test also includes questions designed to test the abilities of a candidate to deal with some abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

English Language:

Candidates are needed to have an understanding of the Basics of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, And his/her writing ability would be tested.

Numerical Aptitude:

Asked questions will be related to the number systems problems along with computation of whole numbers, and decimals, Fundamental arithmetical operations,  fractions and relationship between Numbers, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, use of Time and Work, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables etc.

General Awareness:

All are the questions that are designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment in which she/he lives and its application to society. Questions are designed to test knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions related to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity which includes an Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc.

NOTE: Visually handicapped candidates of 40% and above visual disability and opting for SCRIBE there will be no component of Maps/Graphs/Diagrams/Statistical Data in the General Intelligence & Reasoning / General Awareness Paper.

SSC MTS EXAM Pattern II:

SSC MTS Paper-II will be set in Hindi, English and in other languages which are mentioned in the VIII Schedule of the Constitution as given in Annexure-XIV, to test the basic language skills commensurate with the educational qualification which has prescribed for the post. Candidates are required to write one short essay/ letter.

Note: Candidates who want to appear in the examinations. They will be shortlisted for appearing in Paper-II based on their performance in Paper-I. Some normal scores of the candidates will be used to determine merit in Paper-I.

Paper-II will be qualifying in nature. Limit for qualifying marks in Paper-II will be 40% for unreserved category and 35% for all those are of reserved category candidates. Scores of paper-I of a candidate will determine the merit of paper-II.

SSC MTS Exam Final Selection:

1. Performance of paper-I will decide about the final selection and allocation of states/ UTs.
2. Later on, the performance of paper-I and the candidates will be counted accordingly.
3. The preference of states/UTS given by them in the online Application Form and the age-group of the candidates.
4. The normal scores of the candidates in paper-I will be judged to determine merit and the candidates would be considered against the vacancies of states/UTS as they have given their preference in an application form which is online.
