Admission Process of BSc Biochemistry Course:

The admission to the B.Sc Biochemistry course is generally done on a merit basis. Universities conduct the admission process to the program once the result of HSC examinations is declared. Application forms are available in the month of May and once the application process is complete, universities announce their respective cut off which is the minimum required percentage for getting admission to the course.

However, universities like Aligarh Muslim University conduct an entrance test for admission to the B.Sc Biochemistry. This entrance test is objective in nature and incorporates topics from subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. Questions are from the 10+2 syllabus which analyzes a student’s proficiency in topics taught in their Higher Secondary School.

Admission to any reputed college for the B.Sc Biochemistry course is usually done on an entrance basis, which is conducted by the university itself. A significant consideration is given to the Class 12th results as well.

For a master’s degree, the selection is done on the entrance as well as a merit basis. Ph.D. in biochemistry offers a good salary. However, it is only possible if the biochemist is experienced and has a better skill set. Selection in the Ph.D. courses is through the qualification of entrance tests (For example, UGC-NET, CSIR, and GATE) and personal interviews.

Selection Process:

For universities offering admission on a merit basis, the main criteria for selection are marks scored in the best four subjects in the class 12th examination and fulfillment of the cut-off requirement.

For universities offering admission through the entrance exam, the selection is done on the basis of the performance in the entrance test and marks scored in 10+2. A balanced weightage is given to both the assessments to prepare a merit list for the selected candidates.
