What is a Commercial Diving Course: Commercial diving is a great way to make a living. Every day is different, guaranteed. Their diving course is approved and recognized by the ISDA (International Diving School Association). They provide undergraduate and postgraduate training in different aspects of commercial diving. 

FOMA has tie-ups with many Maritime companies abroad.

Indian Navy Diving School, Kochi:

Although they prefer male candidates, this school has certain guidelines that need to be considered before admission.

  • The candidate must possess a 10th-grade certificate with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • He must also hold a 12th pass certificate from a recognized university.
  • He must be fluent in Hindi and English. 
  • The candidate must hold a medical certificate from a recognized university authorizing his medical fitness.

Admission process for Indian navy Diving School:

Interested candidates must write an application to the Officer-in-Charge at the Diving school along with a demand draft of Rs. 9,600/-.

DiveIndia is India’s largest dive center with operations in the Andamans. Their training centers are located in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. They offer pool training, refresher courses and so much more.

OMM Shipping, Andra Pradesh:

OMM Shipping is India's leading Maritime training institution since 2014. The courses they provide are approved by ISDA and France Level 1-2 and 3. The commercial diving course duration is for 4 months.

Eligibility for admission in Commercial diving in OMM shipping:

  • Candidates should be 10th pass.
  • Students should have good English communication skills.
  • Candidates should be minimum of 18 years of age.

Admission process for OMM Shipping:

  • They should qualify for an additional written entrance test along with qualifying for a medical exam. 
  • For professional training courses such as Underwater welder course, etc candidates should be certified commercial divers from IMCA/IDSA/ADC. 

Roles of a commercial diver:

A commercial diver is responsible for a number of duties on the ocean vessel.

  • Hull Cleaning: 

The purpose of underwater hull cleaning is to remove biological roughness or fouling. A diver usually performs the task with specialized equipment.

  • Salvaging: 

Recovery of all parts of a ship such as cargoes, aircraft, and ships from underwater.

  • Underwater Welding and cutting: 

Special equipment is used to weld and manage parts of a ship, by skilled professionals such as divers. 

  • Underwater Videography:

Making videos of underwater caves, treasures, sunk ships, or cargoes.

  • Underwater obstacle-clearing:

Clearing up the course of ships, by diving underwater.

  • Underwater surveys:

Surveying the underwater water current, and land, checking for dangerous cliffs and other such land formations so as to avoid damaging the ship.

  • Underwater Cable laying:

As the name suggests, laying up of different cables underwater, such as internet cables, oil rig machinery cables, etc. 

Salary of a Commercial Diver in India:

The salary of a commercial diver may vary from place to place and industry to industry. However, the basic salary package per annum is given below, with an hourly rate of Rs. 356/-
