DTP Syllabus:

All the Students will use the Adobe  Creative Suite in this course. Students will get to learn to use the basic tools of  Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to understand the difference between a pixel-based and vector-based graphic, and they will import and export graphics in multiple formats. Topics shall include creating text and gradients,  drawing and composing an illustration, transforming and distorting objects, incorporating colour techniques, placing type in an image, how to work with layers and printing preparation will also be covered. Projects will include designing a logo, editing photographs for a brochure and designing and layout for a company’s newsletter.

  • Classroom  Guidelines: Do not talk, type, surf the net, or print during the lecture, or when a student is asking a question. Food,  gum, candy, drinks, etc. are discouraged in the classroom. Cell phones will be turned off during class time. Power outlets in the room are not to be used to recharge any electrical device. The use of any unapproved electrical device may result in an additional task for the student to complete. Respect each other’s personal space, and be ready to participate. You shall be encouraged to share your ideas throughout the course.
  • Student Assignments:  Assignments (total in number) are distributed in the class and shall consist of review exercises of the material covered in each session. Due dates for each assignment will be provided when each is distributed. If students do not attend the class on the due date, they will lose the points for that assignment. The only alternative to handing in an assignment in class is to send the assignment online. The timestamp must indicate a time previous to the class meeting time. If a file has been sent after the class has begun, points are forfeited. If students are unable to complete required assignments or coursework, they are expected to seek the instructor’s attention. Late assignments will only be accepted with instructor approval. Late assignments are subject to penalty; one grade point is deducted per day.
