What is O Level Course?

The O level is a Diploma course that is conducted by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, NIELIT. The duration of the course is a year (2 semesters of 6 months each).The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, NIELIT organizes admission in the O-level course twice a year, which is conducted in July and January.

Any Applicants who have 10+2 qualifications or hold an I.T.I (Industrial Training Institute) certificate can take admission to the O-level course. The O-level course mainly focuses on enabling the students to acquire knowledge about Information Technology. It is also very helpful in making the basics of computer applications very clear to students.

O level course: The Minimum qualification set by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, NIELIT for the O level course is (10+2) i.e Intermediate. The course duration of O level course is one year (2 semesters in 6-6 months).

After passing these two semesters, the students must give one practical and one project. The O level course mainly consists of 4 subjects in which M1-R4, M2-R4, and M3-R4 are compulsory. The O level course opens up many employment opportunities for candidates under the Central Government.

O Level Course Duration 2024

The O level Course Duration is of 1-year but if you take admission in NIELIT then the O level Course Duration becomes of 5-years. Applicants can complete the course in one year also but If for some reason you have not been able to give O Level Examination or you are not able to clear it, then NIELIT has a registration of every Applied Student which is for 5 years due to which within 5 years applicants can complete the course.

O Level Course Eligibility 2024

The O level Course Exam Eligibility Criteria depend on the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, NIELIT. The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology is known for its IT courses for every course it has set the eligibility criteria.

The NIELIT has set the O level Course Exam Eligibility Criteria for the students who want to pursue the O-level Course.

  • Have to be 10+2 pass out from a recognized college in  any stream (Science, Commerce, and Arts) or
  • Hold a one-year ITI Certificate after class 10th Followed in each case, by an accredited 'O' level course. Or
  • For direct applicants, Hold a one-year ITI Certificate after class 10th Followed in each case, by a one-year relevant experience. Or
  • The candidate has passed the pass in the NCVT-DP & CS Examination conducted by DGE & T. Or
  • Graduate from any recognized university is eligible to register themselves for the O level Course.

O Level Course Syllabus 2024

The O level Course Syllabus is divided into 2 parts- Theoretical and Practical.  For O level Courses in 2 semesters, candidates have to go through the Theoretical subjects and Practicals. The NIELIT conducts theoretical and practical exams semester-wise to shortlist the candidates for the O level Course. Under the O level Course, students also have to perform the project work.

NOTE: Without the completion of the Project work applicants will not be provided with the O-level Course Certificate.

O Level Course - Project Work 2024

In order to get yourself qualified for the O level Course Certificate, applicants have to carry out one project successfully. However, no marks are assigned to it but after the completion of the second-semester students have to complete the project issued to them.

Once the project is completed the head of the institute will submit the project completion certificate of all the students who have cleared all the papers and have completed the project work to the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology for issuing the pass certificate.

How To Download the O Level Course Syllabus 2024?

  • Firstly, login the official website of the NIELIT i.e www.nielit.gov.in
  • Now, select the “Education & Training” button which is at the visible bottom of the page.
  • After that, click on the“Various Courses & Training Programmes” link.
  • A dropdown list will get open on your screen, choose the “Computer Courses” link.
  • Finally, the O-level Course Syllabus will be shown on your screen, click on the“View” button
  • Finally, download the PDF of the O level Course Syllabus for preparation.

Process to Fill the O Level Course Application Form 2024

The process to filling the O level Course Application form is divided into two parts: For Direct applicants and For Accredited Institute applicants. The registration process for both candidates is quite different.

The O level Course Registration 2024 process for both the applicants is given below:

For Direct Applicants:

  1. Candidates have to visit the official website of NIELIT.
  2. The NIELIT homepage will appear on your screen, on the right-hand side of the page “Apply Online” option is given click on it.
  3. Once clicked, under the IT Literacy Programme option: “O LEVEL (O)” option is given, click on it.
  4. After clicking on it the “Online Registration Application Form For:-O LEVEL” page will appear on your screen. 
  5. Read all the information given on the page very carefully.
  6. Once read, select the declaration and click on the “I Agreed & Proceed” option.
  7. Finally, the O-level Course Application form will open on your screen.
  8. The O-level Course Application form is divided into 7 sections- Registration Details, Applicant's Personal Details, Contact Details Permanent Address Details Correspondence Details Educational / Qualification Details, identification details, and Declaration details. These sections are further subdivided.
  9. Fill in all the sections and sub-sections very carefully.
  10. Upload your photograph and your updated scanned image.
  11. Upload your thumb impression.
  12. Now, fill in the “Captcha” given.
  13. After this, click on the declaration box and finally click on the “Submit” button.
  14. After the submission of an O-level Course Application form, the payment can be done through the payment options (CSC-SPV/Online) by the applicant himself/herself.

For the Accredited Institute Applicants:

  1. Go through the official website of NIELIT i.e www.nielit.gov.in or https://student.nielit.gov.in
  2. The NIELIT homepage will appear on your screen, click on the “Apply Online” option.
  3. Under the IT Literacy Programme option: click on the“O LEVEL” option.
  4. Now, the “Online Registration Application Form For O LEVEL” page will appear on your screen.
  5. Read all the information given on the page very carefully.
  6. Once read, select the declaration and click on the “I Agreed & Proceed” option.
  7. Finally, the O-level Course Application form will appear, fill the application form carefully.
  8. Now, after the final submission of an O-level Course Application form, the Institute will verify the applicants by using their Login id and Passwords.
  9. The O-level Course Application Fees can be paid Online for one or multiple applicants (if the payment option selected is ‘Accredited Institute’).
  10. Finally, dispatch the Online registration application forms to NIELIT.

NOTE:

  • O level Course Application form would be considered valid by the NIELIT only when it is having the receipt of the registration fee (in case of direct applicants) and requisite documents, registration fee, verification & online dispatch of the registration form.
  • During the filling of the O level Course Application form applicants will be required to hold the following official ID:
  • Enrolment No. of UIDAI (EID).
  • Bank A/c (Passbook with Photo).
  • PAN Card  Valid Passport.
  • Valid Driving License.
  • Valid Photo ID Card of Student Issued by School/College Authority.
  • Applicants must submit their Documentary proof to the Headquarters of the NIELIT for giving support to the information given in an O-level Course Application form.

O Level Course Fees Structure 2024

The O-level Course fee structure is given below:

  • The examination fees per paper/per module is Rs.500/-
  • Along with the examination fees an amount of Rs.100/- is charged.
  • Improvement examination fees after qualifying all the papers are Rs. 1000/- per paper.

NOTE:

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories can get a refund of the O-level Course fees for examination after clearing the exams. They just need to attest the photocopies of:
  • Proof of belonging to SC/ST category.
  • O level Course Result Sheet of NIELIT examination.

O Level Course Exam Pattern 2024

The O-level Course Exam Pattern is based on the subject and topics that can be asked in the examination. It is very important for every student to have thorough knowledge about the O-level Course Exam Pattern and its syllabus if they are preparing for an exam or course.

  • The O level Course Syllabus is divided into 4 modules-M1-R4, M2-R4, M3-R4, M4.1-R4, M4.2-R4
  •  For each module, the exam duration is of 3 hours
  • The theoretical exam is for 100 marks.
  • The practical exam course duration is of 3 hours.
  • The Practical exam is for 100 marks.
  • Commencement on the O level Course exam- Second Saturday of July and January

O Level Course Admit Card 2024

The O-level Course Admit Card is released by the NIELIT only when the applicants successfully register themselves. The O-level Course Admit Card is provided to the candidates who have admitted themselves to NIELIT.

The NIELIT releases The O-level Course Admit Card on its official website. After the release of the notification, applicants can easily download The O-level Course, Admit Card. It is mandatory for the applicants to carry their O-level Course Admit Card and photo identity card for appearing in the examination.

O Level Course Result 2024

The O-level Course Result is released by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, (NIELIT) 2 months after the commencement of the examination.

The O-level Result is released in the form of a merit list by the NIELIT. The NIELIT follows the grading system. Candidates with less than 50% marks will be deemed to be unsuccessful. 

Note That: The practical marks are not added to the O level Course Result but in order to get the O level certificate, it is necessary to pass practical examinations and finish the project.
